Party Wings

The party consists of several different wings, which have varying perspectives on different issues.

Red Capybaras

One of the original founding members, the Red Capybaras have a more radical view than the rest; although they only have one single member. They follow the political ideology of Chloeyism; one of the founding ideologies of LCOM.

Ellis Swagger

Formed out of the ashes of the Ellis Party; the Ellis Swaggers were the original advocates of the Daily-Wikipedia channel, but became controversial among LCOM after Ellis resigned as Garf Minister to cross the floor as a member of the BBB.

Tom Scotter League

Formed after the merge of the Tom Scotter Alliance into LCOM, the TSL now maintains a position of cultish worship of Tom Scott.

Defunct

Meth Distributors

Led by Walter White and Joxi, this wing was formed out of one of the original founding members of the party, the Meth Party. De-facto defunct after Walt leaving Garfcord and Joxi being kicked out of LCOM. They were proponents of Neilism.

Leftist that will be coup'd

Formed by the party of the same name, the Leftists that will be coup'd held no really strong positions besides leftism until they joined the Red Capybaras.

History

Before the Merge

Prior to the merge, what would become LCOM was the Red Capybara Party (colloquially known as the Socialist Alternative), the Meth Party, the Ellis Party, as well as other minor parties all formed in response to the announcement of the election event. The first day of the event was essentially constant propaganda spam between the Red Capybaras & the Ellis Party, one constantly trying to get an edge over the other, until Joxi, Walt, & Chloe eventually agreed to merge to create the Capybaras on Meth (COM).

The fledgling Capybaras on Meth Party eventually gathered utilizing the hidden #meth-dealing channel to coordinate their propaganda. COM went on to perform admirably in the first round of the 2022 elections, however Chloe feared an enemy in the Leftist Party that will be coup'd by the CIA; and sought a merge with Clacky, convincing him that the Ellis Party and the Big Boobs Barty were greater threats, and LCOM had been formed.

The Election

Having secured an ally in Clacky, Chloe targetted her propaganda at the next biggest threat: the Ourple Rockers. Although previously a third party, and therefore not a threat to LCOM, the absorption of the Leftist Party had let them become the next biggest opposition to LCOM, demonstrated by the second round of the election; where the Ellis Party had not received more than one single vote. Once again seeing potential in an ally, Chloe agreed to absorb the smaller Ellis Party.

Eventually, Turtle was getting suspicious of moderator involvement in the elections, and Chloe voluntarily agreed to step down as the Garf Minister candidate, with a party primary being held to decide who would take on Walt's role as Vice Odie candidate while he assumed the position of Garf Minister candidate. Ellis won with a six point lead over the next candidate.

Afterwards; the third round of the elections saw LCOM gain a supermajority over the Ourple Rockers, and with the dissolution of minor parties, the two parties quarreled all the way to election day, with both parties anxiously trying to motivate voters in order to gain any sort of edge. In the end; LCOM won with over a 16 point lead, the triumphant Walt & Ellis becoming the Garf Minister and Vice Odie respectively.

Winter Garfcord Leadership Crisis

In November 2022, after Walt had seemingly disappeared, Ellis became Garf Minister while a party primary was held to determine who would replace his position as Vice Odie. Alperen, who had joined the party the day of the primary, ran as an independent, while party veterans Emily & 1 ran against him. It ended in a three way tie- which was eventually broken by Joxi's vote. Alperen was elected Vice Odie.

Despite this; Alperen faced numerous criticism from members of LCOM, namely the fact Alperen was originally a member of the Ourple Rockers, the fact he was a wiki mod, as well as the fact he joined specifically to run, on the day of the primary. This led to Chloe promptly asking Alperen to resign- to which he obliged, as long as he could choose his successor.

After a long Garfcourt session of arguing why Alperen could or could not be his own successor, (which ended in both Chloe and Joxi leaving for a day), Alperen resigned and ceded his power as Vice Odie to Rose, briefly taking up the role of Vice Odie.

In December, Ellis had returned and officially crossed the floor to the BBB, prompting a forced resignation via LCOM, with Rose ascending to Garf Minister and a party primary being held to replace the Vice Odie. However, amid the chaos the day of the primary; Joxi had made treasonous comments and rumors of him forming a party with Walt, who hadn't been seen in Garfcord for months, Chloe made a speech denouncing Joxi and forcing his resignation.

Immediately after, Joxi departed LCOM and ceased to be a party leader, bringing an end to the political chaos within LCOM but had its own price: the stability of Garfcord itself.

A New Beginning

The party leadership split had unintended benefits for LCOM. Chloe had finally unified party leadership with Clacky at her side, who had overwhelmingly won the primary with three votes over the next candidate. LCOM began to make preparations for the 2023 elections: they mobilized their propaganda wing, and effectively doubled the size of the party within a week. However; things became extremely polarized with the Meth Party[3]: former elements of LCOM, led by Joxi, that had broken off and formed their own party.

Both parties emerged politically isolated; and rumors of the election being called off[3] began to circulate. Due to a mix of mental health & finals week; Chloe took a brief(?) break from Garfcord politics. Things remain tense and volatile between the two parties; but LCOM maintains their official stance of reconciliation, and have halted all propaganda targeting other parties.

  1. Per LCOM discord.
  2. walt's status in the party is disputed ever since his leaving garfcord.
  3. 3.0 3.1 Part of, if not most of this was due to ooc arguing and miscommunication.
